For Community Groups

We provide a platform for community groups to access resources, find support for their projects, and connect with local businesses. The Community Wishes approach localises the delivery of community benefits by inviting groups to identify what they need in their areas.

How It Works:

  • Gathering Wishes: Wishes are welcomed from local communities, clubs, charitable or third sector organisations or a collection of local residents.  Groups do not need to be constituted but should represent a wider community or group.  Unfortunately, we cannot accept wishes from schools or individuals where there is not a wider benefit to the community.
  • Submitting Wishes: Fill out the submission form, detailing your project, what you would like support with and its benefits to the wider community.
  • Moderating Wishes: The Communities Empowerment Teams will moderate wishes for feasibility and community support.
  • Council Contractors: Approved wishes are added to a public list and map with project details which council contracted will be asked to select and deliver as part of their community benefits requirement  

Please note that contractors are responsible for selected wishes for delivery and the council cannot control when or if a particular wish will be selected.  

Types of Support:

  • Donation of Materials: Need assistance with sourcing materials like timber or paint? Submit your wish!
  • Donation of Time: Need labour support or volunteers to support a project? This can be without a specialism i.e. litter picks or community clear ups or do you need labour support which requires specialist skills or expertise such as a trades person to fit a tap or check electrics or a specialist to undertake a survey or complete drawings? Submit a wish
  • Sponsorship: Have a small sponsorship request? From sports equipment to printing leaflets, we can connect you with businesses ready to help.
  • Other: Have a unique request? We’re open to all ideas that benefit the community.

While wishes are intended to be for small project requests organisations can submit more than one wish for a specific project, so consider splitting your request across several separate wishes.  Just remember we are not able to guarantee when or if a particular wish will be selected.
